Getting Your Race Licence

If you wish to race in the X30 Challenge or Rotax Max Challenge you will require a CIK-FIA kart race licence.

Kart licenses for UAE residents are issued by the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) www.atcuae.ae

You can apply for a race licence from 8 years old.

For newcomers to the sport the first step to obtaining your race license is to book yourself an ARKS (Association of Racing Kart School) test. The ARKS test consists of both a driving assessment and a written test on flag signals and the rules & regulations of karting. The test is designed to check you understand how to drive safely on track and understand the flag signals given by track officials.

Dubai Kartdrome and Al Ain Raceway both offer ARKS courses. The test cost AED350 at Dubai Kartdrome.

The test can be taken in your own kart or using the rental karts available at the track.

Competitors who have previously held a kart race licence in another country can apply for a UAE licence without the need for an ARKS test.

If your over 18 years of age and applying for your first kart licence you will be required to provide a basic medical report from your doctor.

If you require a medical, the required medical information is on the ATCUAE license application form. Take the licence application form to your doctor to complete and stamp.

Once you've passed your ARKS test and completed your medical (if required) you can apply to the ATCUAE for your licence.
